I've been wanting to get one of these since the first moment I saw them hit the market. I however resisted the temptation and waited for some reviews. Usually there are always some growing pains and some issues for a new product, and this was no different. However, I believe LWRC has addressed and fixed the issues since then and I decided now was a good time to pull the trigger. This thing is just badass, functionally and aesthetically. I've only had it for a couple of weeks and haven't shot it much, but that's because I live in the city, so I don't get to the range as often I as I like, but so far so good. This was the first time I've dealt with Gunprime, but it won't be the last. One of the easiest purchases I've made for a firearm. They had the best price on it that I could find, and also had my FFL already on file. They have a drop down box with FFL's in your state & area for you to choose, which is a nice feature, as well as quick shipping. The next time I need anything, Gunprime will be the one of the first places I'll check.
The recoil is negligible as you never are off target for the most part. The Franklin Binary trigger functions extremely well. The trigger in this carbine is "excellent" and makes for long shots handy. I had no problem with the LWRC MAGS, HK Mags, 25 and 15 round all functioned. Have shot over 1500 rounds mostly ball but fed it Magtech and Federal JHP 230 / 185 Blazer everything and now working on a huge pile of inherited hand loads from my now passed on uncle.
The gun comes apart like an AR except the receiver does not fold down like an AR15. You punch the rear pin and let it slightly drop. That takes the pressure off the forward pin and it pops easily. Then the lower is dispatched downward from the upper. It is made to be "tight" arriving at the extreme accuracy.
The barrel is easily removed. The small hex screw on the bottom of the upper (dog point screw) is there only to retain the barrel after the upper is removed. That screw has nothing to do with the weapon's operation like the silly guy on the so called "Military Channel Youtube" whines about. His explanation of this superb piece of work is similar to a chimpanzee operating a TV Remote.
I was so amazed by the design and operation that I just bought a second one. I use the EOTech 522 on my first the the second iron sights and a good flashlight for the house and property. My golf cart gun. With a Silencerco can is is silent and very pleasant to operate.
After the 1500 rounds I disassembled the upper and simply gave it a good wipe down and that was it.
Upon removing the barrel I noted it was fine.
In closing, if you purchase a new one of these by all means take it all apart. Mine had bead blast material all throughout the weapon. all the moving parts felt terribly gritty and very bad when moved. I am happy I did not run out and shoot. Also after you fully disassemble the upper you will of course have to place the little dog-point screw back in the bottom of the upper and the correct setting is "just ever so slightly touching" then back off a very minute smidgen.
Do not use a heavy duty thread lock compound. I used the light weight 18 lb PURPLE Permatex or ROCKSETT. The screw is under NO LOAD and the thread lock is just to keep it set.
